   Freshly picked apples in the market include Honey Crisp, Gala, Jona-Mac, Ginger Gold and Golden Delicious. Pears available in the market this week include: Seckel Pears - A small pear with rich yellowish-brown skin when fully ripe. Will sometimes develop a reddish cheek in good coloring districts. One of the best quality dessert pears. Niitaka... Pears - Niitaka is a highly russeted orange-brown pear with excellent size. The flesh is juicy and sweet and is more heavily textured than most Asian varieties. Bartlett Pears - Long considered one of the choicest canning varieties. A favorite for all uses. Magness Pears - Flesh is soft, juicy and almost free of grit cells. Flavor is sweet and of excellent quality. PYO Berries will be closed on Tuesday, August 28th. They will re-open on Wednesday, August 29th. PYO Gala apples will also open on August 29th. Please check in at the market. |
